Hi all... Nice to know that carp fishing is international...!
Anyway i do carp fishing in Mauritius and I wanted to know some more technics and new baits that I can use to catch big carps..
My actual bait is bread and flour mix up like a dow..!
Till now got some pretty nice results but not on a constant basis..!
Anyone for some tips to help me to improve my fishing.

I know what you are saying Jamie, if I manage to get out at all during these colder months I'll be taking the trusty old Fruity Trifle or Rahja with me. Just like the other day in fact during a quick four hour session I managed to pick out a small but pretty 10lb 8oz mirror on the fruity trifle.

However the water I'm going to be targetting will only be receiving about a half kilo per week for now, and as it gradually warms the amounts will increase steadily. I'm not actually planning on fishing there until around April (when I get a membership) and I want them to recognise it as a safe and nourishing free meal.

bang on jamie, couldn't agree more.it's hard enough getting a bite at this time of year,so having a bait you've caught on and have total confidence in is one less thing to worry about, rahja, fruity trifle and pineapple crush being my choice of weapon!!

Nice piece Sam

Personally I don't like to really experiment with a new bait at this time of year unless I am fishing a water that is known to be productive during the colder months.
I will always stick to a proven winter bait such as Rahja that I have full confidence in at any time of the year. I find it better to experiment with a new bait that I am unsure of during the more active months.
That said I have been using the surf and turf during the autumn and have taken a few fish on it already. The bait quite possibly could take a good few waters apart next year, just as the Rahja has done. It is totally different from any other bait on the market that I know of. The slightly washed out orange colour and its lighter density and make up will certainly give it a fast leak off of attraction which should not only make it a great food bait but also an instant hit too.

Carl as I say, I like to stick with something I am confident with until the water temperatures start to rise again, Rahja and Fruity are proven winter baits, so I stick with them.

Cheers

Took the words right out of my mouth Sam, I'm just in the middle of moving house to a completely new area (Essex) and I'm looking forward to a few new campaigns. Going to start introducing some bait very soon. Haven't decided on which yet though, it's either going to be the Liver B8 (I'm targeting one or two big uns) or the Surf 'n' Turf.

What do you recon???
