I always put short hairs on my rigs also, i just feel more confident than tying on bait or using bait bands.

I simply put short hairs on the ring rather than tying baits - works for me.

Havnt seen Mick since I fished next to him at darenth about 18 years ago! Love the multi rig, can't be doing with tying baits on though, bait bands all the way! I do prefer a small number 4 shot on the break of the braid if I'm using bottom baits with it, seems to hook better, although only lost one fish on this rig!

Hi Spencer, nice to hear someone else tying their rigs when they need them - I thought I was the only one who couldn't get organised enough to fill a rig wallet :-).

Must admit I hadn't used the changeable hook rig until Gary Kimbell showed it to me on Grenville last summer and I ended up playing around with it quite a bit and catching with it too.

There are many sessions in the past when the fish have been coming thick and fast where being able to change the hook rather than having to change the whole rig would have been very useful and time saving indeed.

I'm surprised we don't see it mentioned and used more.

Interestingly Gary was playing a big fish at Grenville when someone pulled up behind to watch. Eventually the fish was in the net and low and behold it was Micky Kavanah the inventor of the rig. Gary was finally able to thank him for it!

I meant to say that from a safety and presentation point of view, I only use a short length of leadcore, much the same as rig tube, just a couple of inches longer than my rig.
I'd be interested to see other team members 3 favourite rigs
