Thanks Archie. I use the groundbait in the same way as a carrier plug in open ended feeders, and in the past have used Mega Carp and Mega Spicy in the mix. Lately I’ve used Quest Bait Glugs and had some success with Surf n Turf and Rahja Spice in the groundbait mix

It’s possible to add fish meals to my mixes but I would tend to keep it to no more than 20%, but if this feels loose add a touch more white crumb. My usual approach is to use groundbait as a carrier for liquid flavours (added to the water) and used this boosted groundbait as feeder plugs or introduce it through a bait dropper.

Nice blog piece Archie. I’ve often considered making my own ground bait and not known where to start. This gives me great starting point and an an understanding of the properties of some of the ingredienst to take it further

If you add fish meals to the mix does this loosen it and would the addition of extra binders be necessary. I’m thinking of mix’s for barbel
