Thanks Archie. I use the groundbait in the same way as a carrier plug in open ended feeders, and in the past have used Mega Carp and Mega Spicy in the mix. Lately I've used Quest Bait Glugs and had some success with Surf n Turf and Rahja Spice in the groundbait mix

Thanks again

Ron

The unit that I use is a Andrew James High Quality Vacuum Food Sealer(for home use only)model VS517 which you can get off Amazon for around £39.95. The unit does come with around 10 small bags but you can ,as I have, purchase rolls of Vacuum pack (model BR2805)which is 28cm wide and 5 metres in length.
You can select whatever length you want. By using the seal only button, you create one end of the bag, put in the bait and vacuum and seal the other end of the bag.
I find that if you put around 2 kilo,s per bag, they do stack niceley. The only down side to vacuum packing, is that if the baits have not been completely air dried, due to the force of the vacuum, it can make the boilies go out of shape a little, caused by them having contact with the other boilies. I have not found this to be a problem as they still can be put out accurately in a throwing stick.
If you run out of storage space in your own freezer at home, you can still vacuum pack without freezing. I have had boilies stored like this for months, in a cool shaded place. Hope this has helped you Ron, I assure you it does work.

Regards

Great idea Paul, how much do the bags hold? I like the idea of being able to take prepared particles. I like the flat bags too, when I travel to France I have stuff stashed in every corner and they look ideal. They will fit nicely under the car front seats. I've been on the Andrew James website and there's a choice of a couple of models. Which one do you recommend ?

Cheers Ron

It's possible to add fish meals to my mixes but I would tend to keep it to no more than 20%, but if this feels loose add a touch more white crumb. My usual approach is to use groundbait as a carrier for liquid flavours (added to the water) and used this boosted groundbait as feeder plugs or introduce it through a bait dropper.

Hope this helps,

Archie.

My favourite backleads are the ones made by Essential. They are flat bottomed, very low profile keeping the line low, and are secured to the line with a PTFE ring which slides freely on your line. The PTFE ring ensure that those annoying moments when the back lead sticks on your mainline, either after you have cast out or when you are playing fish do not occur. The other big advantage is that the leads only come free of your line when you need them to , so you do not lose a lead for every run or retrieve

I was lucky to be there a couple of years ago when a Dutch angler had the Giant out at 74lbs. It came out in November in freezing conditions and there were other fish in the 30's, 40's and fifties out that week so this is not just a summer water. Certainly an amazing fish.

I think threads like this encapsulate exactly why we go fishing. There are a thousands of puzzles, and thousands of answers to every puzzle. How ever hard you try you never really sort it out, needless to say I be back next week for another go.

Cheers Ron
