Wise words Pat.

Thankfully I have never been particularly big fish motivated. Okay I have caught a few big fish along the way but the size of the fish definately isn't the be all and end all to me.

The things that fire me are as follows and in order of importance.

1) The Venue. I have to enjoy being there or else I won't fish it.

2) The Methods. I dislike snag fishing and dislike winding huge balls of weed in with fish in the middle.

3) The other Anglers present. I dislike waters where you constantly have people in your swim wanting to chat. I enjoy a chat but like everyone else I go to work and work long hours. The time I spend
on the bank is my 'chill out' time.

4) The fish. If I can get the top three issues right I couldn't care less how big the fish are so long as they pull my string a bit.

I have followed these four rules for years now and I'll tell you what I enjoy my fishing everywhere and it certainly makes the choice of water easier than just trying to seek the largest fish all the time.

Everyone to their own but personally I want to enjoy every moment I spend on the bank and appreciate every fish for what they are.
