Hi John
I'm glad you have found this idea useful and hopefully it has assisted you in landing a fair few carp.
Your adaptations sound spot on and certainly solve the problem of having to re-disguise the curtain ring after a period of being in the water.
Originally I steered away from the idea of using a curtain hook as i didn't want even the smallest of chances that the fish could become harmed if it got caught on them in any way but you definetely have avoided this using the shrink tube.
I will give it a go and see what happens

Thanks Samantha

Hi Sam
I have been using this curtain eye rig for a while now but with a couple of simple differences. Rather than use a curtain "eye" I use a hook. I thread a piece of green shrink tube around the bend before screwing into the base of the lead. I then bend the hook closed & shrink the tubing. This camoflages the eye . I do this because I found the marker pen washed off after a while.

Hi Sam

I love the curtain hook idea! It certainly makes attaching the PVA bag a lot easier and for a medium to long distance chuck looks like it will be just the ticket - I'll definitely try that method.

For long distance (for me that's anything over 90 yards!) I would go for a short braid hooklink, say 2-3", and put it inside the bag with the lead and some tiny pellets and PVA friendly food liquid poured in on top as well. The Quest bait glugs are perfect for this. With everything inside the bag I shape it to streamline it by folding and licking down the corners. This goes a long way and cuts through cross winds and flies even straighter than a rig without a PVA bag.

I've found the Total fishing small PVA bags are tough enough to withstand a long chuck without splitting on impact.

Best fishes

Hi Samantha

I like the set up, and you can guarantee no tangles with that.

One method that has worked for me with long range PVA is to enclose the entire rig in the bag and ensure the whole thing is really tight.

The problem with doing this is that a lot of PVA bags then split.
I used to get round this by double bagging my bait.

More recently though I have been using Temple Products PVA bags and have found them to be more than up to the job

Cheers
