New Carp World Record!

Congratulations to Martin Locke on his new world record carp weighing 94lb from Rainbow Lake at 6am (French Time) this morning.

It is the fish known as the Steve Brigg’s fish which was out in May at 90lb then went down to 78lb in August and now back up to a healthy winter weight of 94lb! That 100lb barrier is getting very close now.

I wonder what the ceiling weight will be? Has this fish reached it or will they continue to grow?

I would imagine Mr Locke caught it on club mix as it seems hundreds of kilos of it goes in there every week.

Top capture and congratulations well deserved for a man who has put a lot back into carp fishing.

I personally believe the record will go 100lb within 2 years assuming Rainbow doesn’t suffer a fish kill similar to the one at raduta a few years back.
I can’t see Scar making that weight at Graviers though as it doesn’t get the bait Rainbow gets.
I am pretty sure the first person to break the 100lb barrier will become famous over night and that there may even be a financial sum offered to catch it.

To be honest Jamie I never thought I would fish Graviers, and anything over 54lbs will make me very happy.

Someone put a post on the Quest Baits Facebook saying he had heard this fish had died.

I think this is clearly a case of two stories mingling into one as a common was found dead the same day as Martin caught his fish.

Nice to see Martin and his new record get good coverage on Chris Evans 1st breakfast show standing in the shoes of Terry Wogan on Radio 2 to-day.
