Quest re-introduce Archie Braddock’s Spice Blends

We are delighted to announce the re-introduction of these outstanding feed inducing powders. I sold them myself for years whilst working at Walkers of Trowell and the feedback we used to get was nothing short of amazing.

Unfortunately the bait side of things was very much a side line for Archie and when he decided to retire he stopped manufacture of his powders – much to the disappointment of many. Whilst I was at Walkers we purchased all his remaining powder blends, such was the popularity of them, but they didn’t last long!

After a chance conversation with Archie I brought up the subject of his spice blends and to cut a long story short he agreed to pass his recipe books on to us at Quest so we could once again make these very special and highly effective blends available to the angler.

So, for the first time for a few years you are once again able to enjoy the feed inducing qualities of…

Great to see them back. I’m certainly looking forward to adding some Mega Spicy to my winter barbel groundbait again.

Had an interesting afternoon making Boilies with them. They are incredibly complex mixes, I must admit to being quite surprised at the recipes. They each contain more than one essential oil as well as many different spices and food ingredients. Only just occurred to me everything we have purchased for these except one milk product and a crushed pellet in one of the recipes have come from the human food chain.

Seemed quite strange simply adding one ingredient to a base mix (I used our Yellow Birdy Base as it doesn’t particularly carry a smell/taste of its own) but in effect I was adding many more than I would usually.

Great addition to the Quest range.

I’ve been using these powders for years and have a lot of faith in them.

My favourite is Mega Spicey – added to particles while soaking and then after cooking, or in groundbait mixes. Carp simply love them and they add a new dimension to particles that have been used over an over on a water before.

For barbel, Mega Spicey is also brilliant to coat luncheon meat cubes in a bag before freezing; I’ve also had succcess over the years giving boilies the same treatment.

I would love to see Archie’s liquid attractors back Shaun, so hopefully the powders will sell as well as they should and then that might be possible.

Hi Elie,

The response so far has been excellent and we do intend to bring further products into our range if the demand is there. Very much feeling the water with it all first. I spent a long time discussing things with Archie and the four spice blends we have released were the most popular in the range.

So, if these sell well we will definitely push the boat out further.

I made some Mega Spicy boilies on our Yellow Birdy Base Mix and Archie took them straight off of me! They smelt and tasted gorgeous. Not going to tell him next time I make some!

Hi Shaun, any chance of the Megatench coming back?. I used it on a dificult water years back, and the Tench were climbing up the rods!

Hi Andrew,

All being well we will be releasing more of the Braddock’s range – it all depends upon how well the four we have released are accepted.

All of the range are remarkeable fish catchers as you have obviously found with his Tench Magic.

The powders re-released so far are all relevant for this time of the year as well as being the biggest sellers from before. At this moment in time we haven’t yet equipped ourselves to be able to handle the liquids as they go through a very complex proceedure and take a lot of preparation (they aren’t simple off the shelf blended liquids).

Hopefully if the limited range we have once again made available creates the demand it used to then we will slowly increase the range. Having sold the range in the shop for years when Archie was marketing it himself and witnessing the effectiveness of it all you can rest assured I very much want to make a much bigger range available.

Try telephoning Archie on 0115 972 6886. He still does his guided trips and is still more than willing to discuss his baits.

I know he kept hold of a good stock of some of his liquid blends for his own use and still supplies the odd one – you never know….Good luck

Just following on from my previous post. The liquids Archie Braddock produced for his flavour range are very complex in their make-up and can’t simply be mixed and produced to order.
Once the process starts you have a delay of several months before the flavours are ready. They rely on a special process which is why they are indeed very different to most other flavours out there on the market.
So, presuming we started the process to-day we would still be several months down the line before we could supply any of the liquid range.
