A group of us are booked on Laroussi for a week in October. Can you give any advice on tackling this water? e.g. How much bait to take? best bait? Etc. It would be much appreciated.

Laroussi, 15 acres with carp to 75lb
Hi Justin,
First of all a big compliment on your choice. I would describe Laroussi as one of to premier big fish waters at the moment, lovely big fish and a very friendly owner.
I have fished Laroussi on 2 occasions. First trip was in July 2006 and the second trip was last year in May. I am booked on there again this year from 24-31 May. That’s says enough about how I rate this venue.

The lake itself is a 15 acre carp heaven. The facilities are perfect…clean shower and toilet, a fridge and a big chest freezer for bait. On both my trips I caught carp over 40 lb and sturgeon that went over 60 lb.
The fish are not that hard to catch in my view, I did well both trips..First trip landing 15 carp..1 sturgeon & 2nd trip landing 11 carp and 2 big sturgeon and a catfish. It depends a bit on the swim you’re going to fish, but I would say that most fish come from between 30-80 yards out. There are some nice gravel patches and bars in the lake, search for them with your marker rod.
I landed them even from under my rod tip, so they can be caught from anywhere. If you want to catch the sturgeon then I would suggest the Special Crab boilies, they are real eating machines, and like fishmeal based baits. Fishmeal pellets and boilies combined should help you to get some of the sturgeon.
The time you’re going is probably a very good time, so don’t be shy to take plenty of bait. I normally take 20-25 kg of boilies for a week…what’s not needed can be taken home. Nothing worse than fish feeding and running out of bait. A good thing is that Laroussi has Quest Baits in stock, ☺ so…should you run out of bait, there is can always the option to buy some from the owner.
This is why I would suggest to use Quest Baits, they are sold on site and the fish see them more often then other baits.
Partiblend can also be bought on site. (14€ for a 10 kg bucket). Baitwise, I have caught them on several type’s of boilies, I don’t see any real preferences, just take some good quality boilies. I would suggest Special Crab, Rahja Spice or the new Liver B8.
There are no snags in the lake, so no need for anything other then what your fishing with in England..just use the rigs your confident in.
Don’t forget to use barbless hooks. ☺’
