Question from Tom Booth;

“Just wondering what is your best bait and why?”

Hi Tom,Liver B8 boilie

That is a very broad question!  We have put together a range of baits to cover as many types of fishing situation and bait application, that anglers are likely to come up against. I have drawn on the near thirty years I have been involved in carp fishing to produce it. The range now consists of eight different boilies, including fish meals, bird foods and a liver base mix.

Not all these baits have the same application.

  • The fish meal based baits, such as the Special Crab and the Smokey Fish are more suited to warmer water temperatures when they are really at their best. The higher oil content in these baits means they are less attractive and less digestible by the fish in winter.
  • The bird seed base mixes in the Fruity Trifle and the Rahja Spice make them equally effective all year round. You can quite confidentially use these even in the depths of winter and know the fish will feed on them.
  • The Pineapple Crush, is a bit of a one off and was intended as a bright, highly flavoured boilie in contrast to our other baits. These strong flavoured bright baits have proven themselves over the years, and often pick up fish when other baits fail. Another benefit of this bait is that the Poisson Chats found in French waters don’t like it!! It is hard to give you an answer on which is the best bait, as all were designed to fill a certain role in carp fishing and all have been catching lots of fish.
  • The new Liver B8 boilie is one we have just released, and I’m particularly proud of it. If I had to stick my neck out I’d say this is the best bait I’ve produced to date. It is a subtle bait and superb all-year round carp catcher, which contains no fish meal or bird food. It has a high concentration of blood, meat and liver and its dark colour means it is more discrete on the lake too. It seems to have picked out the bigger fish too during field testing.

Best Fishes, Shaun
