With all of the still waters at my disposal in the local vicinity being frozen over I have turned my attention to the rivers. I guess I am rather fortunate where I live as I have so many rivers close by. The Trent, the Soar, the Erewash, the Derwent and the Dove all run close enough to make short evening trips a viable proposition.

I was talking to Ron Key earlier on and he mentioned the levels and a service he used on-line.

I hadn’t seen this one before and it’s certainly incredibly useful being constantly up-dated.

Once you have opened the link you are confronted with a map of England and Wales split into the various river regions.

Click the region you want to check, then click in again to the river and finally click into the part of the river you wish to check.

Absolutely superb and it certainly gives you an idea what to expect before you get there. Obviously particularly useful if you need to travel some distance.

What with river levels and every aspect of the weather at the touch of a button we have never had it so good.
