True weights

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

By Paul Cooper

Have you ever caught a , weighed it accurately and then a few days later the same is caught weighing 2 to 3 lb heavier by another angler.

Watch some of the video’s on the internet sites and you can witness for yourself, examples of being weighed in-correctly.

I have in caught a at 9.30 am and returned the for it to be caught later at around 11.30pm that evening by another angler, weighing in at an extra 3lb. Do you think that is possible? No! It is not. So why do anglers claim these exaggerated weights. Is it ignorance, self , or simply knowingly ?

Reader’s Query - French style lakes in the UK?

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

On the 30th June Phil Parker put the following to the bloggers:

OK here goes. Now I’m sure this subject has been touched before. Why do we not have venues in the UK similar to those advertised in (PLUG) Lines. In perhaps I should ask them this and other companies this. There seems to be a venues that do this but not many. I am not knocking or any of the lakes over there as I have fished many of them over the years and love the places I have been to. Its just that there seems to be missing opportunities which I’m sure could be grabbed. I know there are places like and Anglers Paradise, again top notch venues but the chance to share a with friends on an exclusivity basis or a 20 acre shared between a of 10 anglers has surely got to appeal. There must be of anglers who would relish this as syndicate waters are sometimes far and few between and not within budget for many. So come on lets have your thoughts, suggestions and opinions on this.

By Roy Von Goor

About 10 years ago I started a local ,..a about 8 acre’s in .At that time the stock level was massive, lots of doubles and twenties. with the odd thirty plus .

The biggest resident at that time weighted 34 lb…a big . Everybody wanted to that monster. was fairly easy, days of 5 or more where standard. The loved the anglers bait and kept coming back for it. At that time I did not land the monster, but sadly lost it in of the net twice. Last year I had caught my targetfish from another fairly fast. With no direct other option I decided to take a ticket for the I fished 10 years ago. After arriving I noticed allot of anglers, but nobody catching .. All the anglers complained, they did not feed..weather was wrong..etc I just started using questbaits at that particular , and it was a good option to test them on these no , weathermoody . After the 1st , using fruitly and smokey I blanked. (more…)
