Have you ever caught a carp, weighed it accurately and then a few days later the same fish is caught weighing 2 to 3 lb heavier by another angler.
Watch some of the angling video’s on the internet web sites and you can witness for yourself, examples of fish being weighed in-correctly.
I have in fact caught a feedingfish at 9.30 am and returned the fish for it to be caught later at around 11.30pm that evening by another angler, weighing in at an extra 3lb. Do you think that is possible? No! It is not. So why do anglers claim these exaggerated weights. Is it ignorance, self esteem, or simply knowingly cheating?
Every now and then you find a bit of kit that makes life so much easier that you wonder how you ever managed without it. If you use a lot of PVA in your fishing then I think you’re going to like this little product. What I call the ’mega towel’ made by a company called Tiemco in Japan. (more…)
On the 30th June Phil Parker put the following question to the bloggers:
OK here goes. Now I’m sure this subject has been touched before. Why do we not have venues in the UK similar to those advertised in (PLUG) Angling Lines. In fact perhaps I should ask them this and other companies this. There seems to be a couple venues that do this but not many. I am not knocking France or any of the lakes over there as I have fished many of them over the years and love the places I have been to. Its just that there seems to be missing opportunities which I’m sure could be grabbed. I know there are places like WhiteAcres and Anglers Paradise, again top notch venues but the chance to share a lake with friends on an exclusivity basis or a 20 acre lake shared between a maximum of 10 anglers has surely got to appeal. There must be plenty of anglers who would relish this as syndicate waters are sometimes far and few between and not within budget for many. So come on everbody lets have your thoughts, suggestions and opinions on this.
About 10 years ago I started fishing a local lake,..a parklake about 8 acre’s in size.At that time the stock level was massive, lots of doubles and twenties. with the odd thirty plus fish.
The biggest resident at that time weighted 34 lb…a big mirrorcarp. Everybody wanted to catch that monster.Fishing was fairly easy, days of 5 fish or more where standard. The fish loved the anglers bait and kept coming back for it. At that time I did not land the monster, but sadly lost it in front of the net twice. Last year I had caught my targetfish from another lake fairly fast. With no direct other option I decided to take a ticket for the lake I fished 10 years ago. After arriving I noticed allot of anglers, but nobody catching anything.. All the anglers complained, they did not feed..weather was wrong..etc I just started using questbaits at that particular moment, and it was a good option to test quest them on these no feeding, weathermoody fish. After the 1st session , using fruitly trifle and smokey fish I blanked.(more…)
