Memorable Session 3: Extreme Orient

I previously published this article on the Lines blog, but it really does stand out for me as one of, if not the most memorable session I have ever fished. Not because we caught big , indeed I have caught larger from other less challenging waters. It was just the immense elation of banking an 40lb Plus…
Here is the story:

It was with huge anticipation that I agreed to my friend Laurent’s invitation to try an assault on one of the most daunting of waters: the Lac d’.
is a veritable inland sea covering some 2600 hectares. Despite its size, and typical of French waters, the sectors are very limited.
At the agreed I rolled into the car park at the cafe in Geraudot and sat down with a cold beer to await Laurent. The conditions were ideal with a strong wind blowing and the forecast for some nasty for the next 48 hours. You see is not a difficult lake, its the rough conditions and its size that increase its difficulty, the worse the the better ones chances of catching. Rotten conditions seem to bring the right into the bank, thus increasing the chance of a take. (more…)

What did you catch that ?

This is one of the things I seem to be most interested in when I talk about catches that other anglers have had. I would say 70% of the anglers on the waters I are doing overnighters.. This means arriving at 18.00 in the and until 09.00 in the .

What I hear a lot is that they are not confident in the days, because the at , and not during daytime. Well, in my view some of this is true, they tend to catch during the , and . But I would never overlook the hours of . I hardly overnighters anymore because I catch my with no problem during daytime. But a lot of anglers cant get there heads around daytime only.
