has come on leaps and bounds over the past 20 years with care being at the forefront of the conscientious angler.

Even the sacking of is slowly decreasing with a more fisheries, banning the sack altogether. This has come about as a result of the occasional angler abusing the sack, by retaining a well beyond a safe period and causing unnecessary stress in doing so. The answer to this is in self which I have covered in a previous blog.

It’s stressful enough for the being hooked and brought to the bank then netted, so lets make the time it spends on the bank has comfortable as possible.

A Quick Visit and a Quick Carp

We were lucky enough to be able to stop at for a few days whilst making one of our usual trips to some of our venues in . On this trip most of our visits to the lakes were grouped in an area where we could stop in one place and circle out each day to view the venues. When we arrived at in the Shirley and Martin made us most welcome at their home with a nice hot . From their house we could just see the lake through the trees in the distance as the sun was going down. We discussed their plans and then the talk got around to the actual something I love to do! (I always travel with my rods in the roof of the van) Martin could see I was chomping at the bit and offered to show me around the lake - if I wanted to If !! – we were down the stairs and half way across the field before his feet touched the ground.
As we walked around the lake Martin told me all about the work they had done – including de-silting the lake and putting in a deeper channel along the left side of the lake (looking from the ) He also showed me the hotspots where successful anglers had fished before. (more…)

canon2.jpgOne of the finest aspects of is arriving at a venue to find that you are the only one the lake. Peace tranquillity and the choice of swims, you cannot beat it.

But what happens when you capture a specimen that you want to record on camera. pats-pics-cedar-lake-023.jpg

With most cameras there are facilities that will enable you to fix your camera to a tripod. Once the camera is on the tripod you need to accurately focus on the area that you intend to take your and then you need a means of taking that photo shot. Another angler or passer by, maybe? You are on this lake and there is no-one around.. Do you sack the until someone does arrive or do you think of the welfare of the ? Now my answer is self . (more…)
