Does anyone bother to protect their hook points with vaseline etc. Never bothered myself but I remember Gary Bayes years ago singing the praises of this. Certainly I have fished some waters where the hooks lose their edge very quickly yet other waters you can get away with using the same hook for a number of trips.

What I actually do is leave my normal actual fishing hooklink on the rig, but I protect the hook point with either the cork insert that is on the hair or a piece of fake plastic corn.

I also leave these on the point of the hooks when storing them in my rod sleeves to protect them.</description>
