I would agree with Jamie's original answer, i have been to France many times at the start of May (and earlier) and have always had excellent results with the Rahja Spice Shelf Lifes. You won't really go wrong with any of the baits mentioned in this thread.

Probably worth taking a mixture and 'ringing' the changes until you find what the carp want the most, during the week you are there.

Cheers,
          Pat

Our new Squid Berry will be out by then. This could definitely be worth a look although the Special Crab has an extremely long and trusted track record in France once the water temperatures are warming up. End of April will be good.

Hi Shaun, i followed your advice on the ghurkka spice boilie being a good winter bait and i've got to say i had a great result using it!! I've got a trip to france coming up at the end of April and am now trying to decide which of your boilies to take. Would you still say Special Crab or Liver B8 or is there another which could be worth a go? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi Andy

On a personal basis I would always feel 100% confident using the Rahja.
I have taken this bait to France several times and I almost always take a trip the first week in May.
I have never come away from a trip believing I could have caught any better had I used a different bait.

Good luck
