What Camera do you use?

I would like to hear what type of camera you use ?
Over the last 3 years I’ve had two Canon digital SLR,s but couldn’t get on with them, despite being advised by one of the best and filmed with him (Tony Davies Patrick – AKA Globetrotter).
Six months ago I purchased a Canon SX10IS and it is totaly amazing – perfect for the carp angler. The face recognition is amazing for self takes – even in the dark. Simply pull the screen out, flip it round so you can see yourself before you take the picture, set to face recognition, and how many shots you want it to take and you are away.
When lifting the fish up just dont stare directly at camera , (look at screen through corner of your eye)
then when ready stare directly at camera and wahey it takes the pics with about 3 seconds inbetween shots ,
so you can see what the camera is taking whilst your holding the fish. It’s perfect for me. Another massive feature is the zoom, 600 times, and 200 digital, 800x amazing ,no need for binoculars any more!

Have a look at this peice of kit , you wont be disappointed.

Hi Mark,

I’ve used various Canon EOS cameras for years. Before changing to digital I used the robust Canon EOS 5′s and loved them.
I downgraded in terms of camera body when I changed to digital and went for the EOS 350D. I still use this for almost all of my shots.
The lens is the most important thing on these type of cameras. The bodies are more than up to the job of returning magnificent pictures but they are greatly helped with better lenses. Having said that I damaged my best lenses and I’m currently using the basic zoom lens which came with the camera.

I use an old Nikon 2020 SLR. That bad eh?

Canon Powershot A620 for me. Really compact camera with loads of features. Also has a flip screen, which makes self take photo’s a doddle. Only thing is, i don’t think Canon make them anymore.

Thanks for replys , i had a canon 400D but found it dificult on night shots,
a bulb release that went on the digital slrs would be perfect .

J’ai également un CANON avec l’écran amovible bien pratique pour le pêcheur solitaire que je suis. Lors de mes clichés l’appareil est posé sur un pied et avec la détection du visage tout se fait comme par magie. J’en profite pour souhaiter à tout le team une bonne et heureuse année 2011 riche en poissons.

Its an SLR for me . A Canon EOS 40D with a Tamron AF17-50 F2.8 lens. I use it with a SRB Griturn bracket and bulb release for self photography. I had a Canon G6 compact after my Eos 350 for a few weeks but missed the versatility of an SLR and traded it for the 40D. Unfortunately my fantastic lens slipped from my hands and bounced off the table, then the chair, and then the floor and won’t talk to my camera any more. I hope my insurance company is feeling sympathetic

Mine did the same several years ago Ron but I had purchased it second hand and had no receipt so never put a claim in

My insurance company decided against repairing and compensated me for a replacement. I’ve just received the upgraded version of my lens. It now has Vibration Compensation which should be a great addition when using slow shutter speeds particularly for low light photography. All I need now is a carp to photograph!!!
