At last the wait was over and I was driving down the track to the water. I still can't get over how I still get excited just going fishing. The alarm didn't need setting for my 2am start so I was soon in the saddle and on my way. The water looked good and the wind blowing hard to where I wanted to set up. Just about the most uncomfortable pitch but that is where I wanted to be.
The bivvy went up in record time followed by four rods, then the pressure was off and time to tidy up and organise the camp for the next three days. All day I kept expecting the yellow indicator to go. By nightfall all was still quiet. During the night the wind rose and down came the rain making it a long night from about 18.45hrs.
02.45 am yellow indicator away! I dived out into the wind and rain and pulled into a heavy fish. The fish had been on for quite some time and never came any where near the top. I could feel it was a big carp that new his job. I somehow knew I was going to lose it. Probably ten minute later the sickening feeling of a hook pull was the result. I stood there in the wind and rain shaking and cursing.
Fresh bait then, no use grumbling any more and about half a kilo of 14mm Angling Lines Special Crab around the double 14mm bait. I dried off and got in the sleeping bag. I just could not get off to sleep. After an age the dawn started to creep in and the rain had stopped. The sun tried to shine and I was just sorting my breakfast out and the yellow indicator is in full cry.
Breakfast dumped down and onto the rod. The fish felt good and keep deep until at last I managed to slip the net under a mirror. As soon as I saw the tail distortion I knew it was the one from my last visit a chunky mirror going 29lb 14oz. It must really like this Special Crab to fall twice in three weeks. Photos done and fish returned breakfast resumed.
The weather behaved itself and the day went ok with two little cheeky stock fish taking the double bait but it was still good fun. I was just about to make my tea when Shaun my friend rang me, he had noticed an area where the sun always shone and we agreed that could just produce. After the call I moved towards the centre rod to move it to the sunshine spot. I just bent to pick the rod up and it was away! It startled me! I whacked into it and it pulled back and made straight for the deepest weed bed. A lot of pressure both ways from both of us finally saw a big chestnut back rise in the water.
I felt shaky but ok as I slipped the net under then put the rod down with open bale arm and lift the big daddy out.
He weighed 43lb 10oz and I couldn't believe my eyes. I had caught him before two years ago at 42lb and he looked just as grand again.
At home looking at my diary I realised that I had caught him in the same pitch and to half an hour the same time of day and would you believe to a week the same time of the year.
Amazing isn't it?

Details: Picked a spot on the bottom lake at this venue, nice channel between bank and island saw several carp just under the surface patrolling along. 1st rod put out with a fruit bait by the reeds at end of channel didn't get any takes on this spot even though they were showing and playing with the line. Moved this several times during the day but still didn't have any luck.
Meanwhile I saw several carp further down the bank where it was quiet so decided to lay a trap, several handful's of pellets along the reeds close to the bank with a handful of whole and crushed A.L Special Crab boilies and a line of boilies from the second island to the pellets. Laid my bait on top of this and gently let out the line past the bushes and reeds as I returned to my peg and rod pod. After an hour and several taps to the line I was just loosing myself in my book when the buzzer went off. Hoping the fish wouldn't shoot off round the island before I could get along the bank with my rod, reeling in as I went on tip toe over the tall bushes trying to keep the line tight. This first fish was a good 13 lb mirror and very energetic not keeping still for a photo shoot, so back he went. I put a few more crushed boilies on the trap and played the line down the bank again. Twenty mins later off went the alarm (I must have looked like a spare for the swan lake ballet dancing down the bank on tip toe)... this fish was a nice 7 lb common.
The next fish that fell for this tactic was another 7 lb common. At this point I decided to give up on the fruit boilies and put both rods down the bank and moved my pod closer as well. Sure enough 35 mins after a new scattering of boilies off went the alarm this produced a fat looking 10 lb'er Angling lines special crab was giving me a real taste for carp fishing and the fish like it too. The last fish of the day followed about 40 mins later a good looking 8 lb carp so I got the lad off the next peg to take a picture as I really liked the markings on this one. It was after 6pm by now and the mist was just starting to drop and so was the cold. I was buzzing with the catches I had had and can't wait until next Sat to go again. I had a really successful day with Angling lines bait and will keep trying other flavours to see if they will work as well for me.

Details: After a late start to the season on the Mangrove due to holidays and work commitments I eventually got off the mark with a few fish under my belt. Now it’s the first week of September and I have just had a fresh order of 20mm Angling Lines Specials made up for me, which when air dried for 4 or 5 days are just right to combat nuisance fish and to attract old Mr Carp.
A couple of nights on Stream Mouth, at the beginning of the week produced a 19lb mirror and a low double common. I gave Russel Price a hand full of the bait, who was pitched up on the High swim and he had a 28, a 27 and a 22lb’er on the 20mm’s
I was at work on the Sunday when I checked the weather for Sunday night. Heavy rain, 27 degrees and thunder storms. No place for work… I booked a couple of hours off and slipped to the Mangrove. High swim was my chosen swim and sure enough a fairly mild storm hit around 8 pm. All my rigs were baited with 20mm Angling Lines bottom baits, fished over a small scattering of hemp and around 200 boilies.
At 4am I had my first piece of action with a 22 lb common. Into the sack and recast the rod.
5.15am on the same rod and a 16lb common. Slipped this one back to the murky depths and back to the bivvy for a brew. I was fully awake now and watching the steady downfall of rain.
6.00 am and the same rod was off again with a screamer. After a log hard fight I had a 22 lb mirror in the net. Another one sacked for first light.
The session was ended, around 8.15am with a 19lb 8 oz mirror again on that same rod. No photo’s with the fish returned straight away to the water. The area that I had baited came alive with fish , with fizzing and fish humping out but I had no further action.
I will be back on the Mangrove again on our next rota and will update you of any decent catches.

Details: Just returned from a week's trip to Willow Lake, France with my mate Tony Frost. The lake is in the Champagne region and about 5 acres in size. It contains just 50 carp, 9 of which are over 50 and many others over 40 but it is not an easy water and certainly not most people's idea of French fishing: you have to be prepared sit it out all week for maybe just two or three runs knowing you could catch a real whacker, or maybe even blank. The 3 people who fished the week before us didn't catch anything. It was a really hard week's fishing with many challenges I had never come across before, especially the submerged weed which was covered in thorns and cut through 15lb mainline like cotton. I had to wait until Wednesday night to land my first carp but I finished with mirror carp of 34-5, 47-9 and 55-4, both of the bigger carp were personal bests at the time and the capture of a fifty was a dream come true and what I had hoped to achieve on the trip. I also had 3 sturgeon 44lb 8oz (twice, repeat capture) and 51lb 8oz. The bigger sturgeon fought as hard as anything I have ever caught in freshwater - unbelievable fight. Tony also had 2 carp during the week of 45-4 and 52-6. All the fish came to Angling Lines Crab Specials, freezer baits as they are or air dried and rehydrated in hemp water and bloodworm liquid.

Details: Yet again the Angling Lines Special Crab baits have proven their worth. Above is the latest culprit to fall for the crabby carp sweets. A 46lb 8oz hard fighting leather which was the largest fish of a five fish catch in very difficult, very hot conditions. There were six other anglers fishing and all were struggling until one of the others swallowed his pride and came and scrounged some of my bait off of me. That got his bobbins moving for him too. My catch also included mirrors 37lb 8oz., 33lb 10oz and a couple of 20's. I don't know what you are putting into it but the bait has been responsible for my most successful year ever. Bait worries? I have none at all. I certainly know what I will be using again next year. My only criticism is that it is costing me a fortune in camera film. - Steve Bardens

I had waited all week for the chance to get the rods out and at last the time had arrived. The van, loaded the night before, was fired up and away I went ready to do battle with the M1. I groaned as I heard the weather forecast, high pressure and 28 degrees. Still I had to give it my best shot.
On arrival I could see the swim I wanted was taken... also one a bit further up. Not really fancying my options I made for the shallow end and set up.
I was keen to try the ice blocks I had made and this area was ideal for it. I had liquidised some Angling Lines Special Crab and water with 40mm of Seggiano olive oil. All of this “soup” was then poured into plastic containers along with a large pebble so that it would sink and melt.
The pitch is quite narrow so I was able to walk round to the opposite margin and under hand bowl four big ice blocks. I could see the heads turn when the blocks hit the water!
The bivvy was set up and the rods out and time to wait. The first cast was at 10.30am with one 14mm Angling Lines Special Crab boiley on each rod cast into the soup. Then the sun really turned the heat up, it was a case of trying to find some shade. All the time I’m thinking “wait till it gets dark and cools off”.
Right out of the blue at 5pm, in blazing sun the ice cube job is in orbit! One of my Essex mates came round to watch, and then net, calling me unprintable names. A lovely common at 28.04 was the result. The quest is on for a bigger cooler box now!

Details: Hi David, Sorry the reports from this side of the pond have been a bit scant of late. It's been so darned hot that fishing has been largely a waste of time plus with my family getting back from the UK at the beginning of August my opportunities to get out have been somewhat curtailed! That said, you might be interested in a short report from a day session I had on the St Lawrence on the Canadian side last Friday. I only had a day so no time for big baiting campaigns - I just had to rely on location and the pulling power of Angling Lines baits. Basically fishing the same tactics as Stewart and I did in the WCC in June (Angling Lines Specials over corn) I took 21 fish during the day - and that was really relaxed fishing using just one rod!! No real biggies unfortunately (the biggest was 22lb 8oz) but every fish was a stunner and fought incredibly hard. If I'd have been on this many fish in the WCC we'd have surpassed Tim Paisley and Steve Briggs's total weight by the end of the second day!!!! A few photos attached showing the 22.8 plus my daughter's (aged 9) in action. Hope to have more regular reports of bigger fish as the weather cools down into autumn. Regards. John

Details: After several short evening trips to this place I decided to try for an afternoon's fishing. I hadn't had my tackle long and had got hold of some Angling lines Tutti Fruitti to try. After setting up with a boilie on my rigs and a pva line of boilies attached I cast out, trying to aim for the main water flow which comes under the Butterley railway bridge. My line fell a little short but as the string of boilies was already spread decided to stay with it and hoped everything was OK. It was a lovely sunny afternoon and I was beginning to understand part of why people went fishing and started to relax.
I had been told the fish didn't usually show till late evening so was expecting a quiet time. Still unsure if I had done everything right. After a couple of hours decided to reload with another string of boilies and cast out again. Started seeing movement just under the water and a few ping's on the line I sat back and waited, watching the sun just catch the tree tops opposite my peg and being blinded by it, then off went the alarm. The line streamed off my reel and I couldn't jump up fast enough. This was my first fish I had had to really hold onto the rod with, still couldn't see what it was because of the sun. It took some time to try and get control and hoping it wouldn't get off the hook. I looked around and realized I was the only one there... Help !!! Telling myself to take control and keep calm I slowly began to get him closer he still hadn't shown above the water and all I could do was watch my rod end going from side to side as he zig zagged across the lake, just managed to keep him out of the reeds and stopped him from going round the next peg and not get tangled in the tree. I slowly dropped my net into the water in hope of getting him close enough to get him in. Finally he came in and I managed to get him in the net as the line went slack and he was off the hook. I was shaking and excited at the same time, panic what now!! I had to take a minute to calm down and get enough energy to lift the net out of the water. Still no one around so I grabbed my phone and called by mate down in Swanick to come and help make sure I didn't damage the fish when I got it out of the water. When they arrived I had the biggest grin on my face and was still shaking, we weighed him at 19 lb my mate's wife took the photo of my first proper carp.!! I'm hooked now, I put him gently back in the water and off he swam, I hope to see him and more of his mates again soon.

Details: Just to let you know that the bait continues to work on the barbel! I went last Friday to a different river - The Derbyshire Dove and it worked again straight from the off. I caught fish of 10lbs 1oz, 8lbs 5oz, 6lbs 2oz and 5lbs 10oz - all on the Angling Lines Specials fished in conjunction with a feeder and groundbait. (I also lost a couple - the Dove fish really pull hard!)
My mate Adam was also fishing and started off on his trusty halibut pellets but after blanking and seeing my tally of fish he 'begged' some bait off me. Shortly after this his rod tip whacked around and he caught his biggest fish of the season so far - a spawned out 10lbs 3oz fish! To say he went home happy was an undertstatement!!
Nice to see the Trent fish I caught last week has made it onto the biggest Barbel website on the web - www.barbel.co.uk and has been put into their league table. Time to show the barbel world that the Angling Lines Specials have arrived!
I will get out after the carp soon I promise!!
Kind Regards and keep rollin the bait!

Details: POST WCC REPORT
We thought the whole WCC event was an amazing experience and not just for the obvious reason that we had a great result. We’d not fished a carp tournament before and were not really sure what to expect but we were certainly not disappointed, it was a great atmosphere right from the start.
We know there were some that were disenchanted with the peg they drew but nobody had anticipated the weather either directly before or during the event. The cold spring, strong winds, changes in water level and burning hot daytime temperatures all conspired to make the fish behave strangely and made some otherwise excellent swims downright difficult to fish. Aside from that, it did take a while for the marshals to establish a routine with the weigh-ins and the communication via the 2 way radios was not reliable but the key thing once in the swim was concentrating in getting the most out of it. We figured the marshals would turn up eventually and provided we had enough sacks we were not going to loose energy worrying about things that were beyond our control. Without doubt congratulations to the ACS team for staging an event worthy of the name – we look forward to the next one!
As for our result, we were confident in our angling ability but the key things for us were to stay comfortable, stay positive and stay at it! . There certainly is no room for big egos in an effective team and there’s no doubt we worked well together and kept each other focused. We said from the start that the competition was going to be 50% peg draw, 25% angling ability and 25% teamwork and stamina and we stick by that assessment. We drew a reasonable peg but it was by thinking about what we were doing, working together and giving it 100% effort that we were able to get the result that we did. It also helped having excellent bait (thanks to Angling Lines and Hemp Oil Canada) and fantastic support from family and friends..
The potential prize money that was on offer certainly generated a fair amount of media interest here in the USA where Carp have long been regarded as a second-class fish. Coupled with the fact that the competition was so excellently covered on the WCC web site certainly added to its appeal and did much to change people’s perception of Carp as a sporting fish. We both have angling and non-angling friends and work colleagues that closely followed our progress on the web site throughout the week and they seemed to share the highs and lows in equal measure. It’s not possible to effectively televise a 103 team, 115 hour fishing competition live and hope to capture the atmosphere but having the ability to log in a couple of times a day with several hours in between, gave the perception of a fast paced sporting event that appealed to a wide audience. Now it’s over the challenge is to build on this tide of change to convince more of the American angling public to try their hand at catch and release Carp fishing. It’s a shame the fact that the USA won the Nations Trophy has not been more widely publicized. In a country that is as fiercely patriotic as America, winning a World Championship should have resulted in more media coverage, which would have in turn generated more interest.
As for us, the post competition interest has been a little disappointing. Given the fact that Tim Paisley and Steve Briggs came first by such a large margin and given the fact that they were already extremely well known in the Carp angling scene has hugely overshadowed our result. Additionally, we chose to fish for the USA partly out of a sense of duty (since we both live here) but mainly because we wanted to help promote the sport this side of the pond. To a certain extent this has worked, in the main through the good efforts of Angling Lines, the ACS and CAG (Carp Anglers Group) but we can’t help feeling that our personal publicity would have been more extensive had we fished for the UK. Specialist Carp tackle endorsements are currently not very prevalent in the USA but we’d be delighted to help any UK based tackle companies wanting to break into the American market!
Having said all that, coming second in a World Championship, in a sport that we both love is an achievement of which we are justly proud and it’s something that few can claim! If we can raise the money we hope to go to South Africa next year to build on this result and attempt to prove it was not a one off.
John Tilbrook and Stewart McKenzie

Details: Arrived Tuesday afternoon to find the lake to myself. This is a very hush hush estate lake that had not been fished for ten years until about eighteen months ago when it was 'rediscovered'. The lake was stocked with 150 Simmons fish of 5-6lbs last winter to add to the existing stock of carp, some very big. I decided to set up in a swim I'd never fished before but had produced a number of good fish including the lake record. Baited up with two kilos of 14 mm baits at 70 yards and some hemp and white dari seeds and fished with double bottom 14 mm ALS baits on one distance rod and one margin rod, and another bait on the third. Two rods at range, one in the margins. I'd never used ALS boilies here before and I had a run within half an hour of casting out. I caught fish steadily, day and night, even through the torrential downpours we had most of the time I was fishing. I mean torrential - I was getting ready to build an ark by Thursday evening. I do hate getting out of a warm bed at 2 in the morning to pick up a screaming run when it's tipping down outside the bivvy. Each time I hoped it would be one of the lakes originals, some very big fish in there, so getting soaked was always worth it, just in case.
By the time I headed home Friday morning I had caught 30 of the stockies to 12lbs and had hook pulls on half a dozen others. Every one came to ALS boilies - I literally never had a single run on the other bait I was using, a bait I have always really rated highly. I stopped using it after 24 hours, then tried it again for the last day when I started to run out of bait, but still had no takes on it. Unfortunately I didn't connect with any of the bigger fish this time but there's always next time.

Details: The fish weighed in at 11lbs 3oz and was taken from a falling river the first time I had used the Angling Lines Specials on the Upper Trent. It was amazing to think that the fish will have never seen this particular bait and yet they took it with such confidence - I nearly lost the rod twice! (Thank goodness for baitrunners!). In addition to the PB 11+ fish I also took a 9lbs 5oz barbel plus lost two others due to the amount of debris coming downstream!
Talk about a cracking bait and I haven't even had time to try it on the carp yet - I'll be in touch!!
Kind regards
Paul
PS - The only problem I have with the ALS's is trying to stop my mate Adam stealing it from me!!!

Details: When we booked our 2005 carp fishing holiday in France at Angling Lines Bridget sent me some of the new Angling Lines Specials to try. I think it were eight 18 mm bottom baits and four 18 mm pop-ups. I agreed to try them at my home venue, a private venue in Belgium . Knowing it was a tough time I didn't want to start with the bait, but my little brother Rick did. And how! On a hard water like this he managed a magnificent catch of four carp in the first night!! He caught a 12 lb mirror, a 24 lb mirror, a 22 lb common and a magnificent 36.16 lb common! Seeing this I also wanted to try them, but they were all gone...so I tried a used one and it worked for me! I managed to catch a 26 lb mirror carp in the end, a beautiful fish! Well...what a first experience with the Angling Lines baits, I'll certainly will use them a lot in the future!

Details: Hi David,
John Tilbrrok and myself went out to a lake in Virginia this past weekend in anticipation of some serious grass carp action, and that's exactly what we got.
The weather here at the moment is hot and very humid, and when I got to the lake it was literally like stepping into a sauna. I have never fished in such nasty conditions before, and probably won't ever again!!
Using the ever faithful AL Specials fished over beds of maize and other particles I started fishing at around 7pm on friday night (John didn't arrive till an hour later than me.... he has a 4 hour drive as opposed to my 1 hour drive!!). Within 5 minutes of casting, I had a run which completely took me by surprise, and I duly lost it! I had made the effort and pre-baited the night before, so I was confident that I'd get another chance at a fish or two.
As it turned out, John was the first to catch, a nice 22 pounder, and not too long after that, a cracking 32lb 6oz fish..... unfortunately due to the fact that this fish fought pretty well for a grass carp, he put it back without taking a photo, thinking he might get a bigger one.
If anyone hasn't caught a grasser before, these things are completely crazy fish, and only decide to fight when you're about to net them, and then again when you're taking a photo. Things went quiet and after a few hours of lying on a clammy bedchair I had a run shortly after 1am..... Again, the fish came in like a wet sack, and then proceeded to soak me right at the net and run out into the darkness again. This happened a few times, and then finally John slid the net under what looked like a new personal best Grass Carp........ and it was, at 32lb 8oz I was a happy carper! After a little bit of revival (these are veeery delicate fish) it swam back to its watery home to fight another day.
Another couple of hours went by, and then I had another take which once again came in quickly, and then the water errupted right in front of us and showed a fish bigger than the first....... Following the usual back and forth and soaking of the already soaked, John netted the fish, and after weighing on the trusty Reubens, showed that once again I had a new PB, this time at 35lb 8oz..... lovely stuff!
Other than a few catfish each, the rest of the night was uneventful, and after an early morning mid 20 for John we decided that the humidity and heat was too much for a couple of Englishmen, so we called it quits, and headed for home!
Result: 2 twenties and 3 thirties in a little over 12 hours of fishing..... not bad in 90 degree weather and 100% humidity!!! ;-)
Stewart.

Details: Hi David
Just a quick update on how the bait performed on our French trip to Les Burons... during our session we had 54 runs 44 of which were landed. Our tally consisted of 5 x 30lb + fish biggest being a 31lb 12oz common to my son Adam, 24 x 20lb+ fish... biggest 28lb 2oz mirror and 15 doubles average size 18lb - 19lb.
Due to the high temperatures during our visit we only fished from early evening to mid morning each day. Considering these fish are predominately fed and caught on NRG and maize taking the Angling Line Specials might be considered by some as risky. However I am a great believer in a change is as good as a rest and was proved right with what I believe is the second biggest hit on the lake.
Two to three days into the session the fish were so on the bait it was spilling onto the unhooking mats from the fishes vent. I am quite confident that had the temperatures been not so high and the fish not long finished spawning that our results would have surpassed anything before.
In my twenty plus years of carp fishing I have used baits from numerous bait company's with some degree of success. Over the last seven years I have been a devotee of Mainline baits which to be fair have never let me down . For me to fish with non Mainline baits took a big leap of faith, a leap which so far has been well rewarded I can and would fully recommend your baits to any one.
Bernie

As I loaded all my cat gear on to my barrow I knew which swim I wanted. This was a new swim and I knew it hadn't received a lot of angling pressure. Sure I’d done well out of the Big Tree swim but the takes were getting very cautious... also a lot, and I mean a lot, of dropped runs. These were all on the standard cat baits, indeed another of my regular cat haunts they are scared to death of the pellet.
I started the long slog along the field side and although it was barely eight o'clock already it was hot and the sun high. Terrific I thought that’s all I need high pressure and a full moon too that surely will slow things down.
I got as far as the Big Tree swim and stopped for a breather and looked at the water.
All my senses told me to fish there and I looked across to the Elderberries and considered the baiting I had done the session before. Pellets, boilies and a load of mackerel had gone in.
All this was racing round my head but still something told me to give the Big Tree another go. Positive thinking took over so off with the gear and the Big Tree it is.
Two rods went out to the gravel works weed bed, one on pellet and the other on mackerel. The left one I felt should go to a new weed bed over to my left. I was about to fix a piece of mackerel on then changed my mind and decided to put a double Angling Lines Special on. Now I know that this lake has never seen these before and I’d taken some along to have a go for a carp, or to try it if the cats didn’t want to come out to play. I felt I had nothing to lose as the other rods were on recognised cat baits.
As these were 14mm. I made up a double hair on a number four hook and loaded the hairs with three Specials on each.
The baits hit the water a little after nine am, followed by three kilos of Angling Lines Specials into an area approximately ten square metres. As the weather was even hotter I thought it would be after dark before anything happened.
I always take a mountain of gear with me so it was kettle on then sort out time. At 9.30 I had a strong liner on the Specials, it came as such a surprise in the heat and bright sun, that for a moment I just stared at it. After a few minutes wait I was tempted to check the baits but resisted the temptation and carried on making camp.
11 40 and the Special went into orbit with a very fast run. I really struggled to believe this was happening in the middle of the day and in a pitch that had taken a lot of stick.
Battle fought and won, the cat weighed in at 23.12 on a bait that had never seen the water before!
Photos taken, cat back and in goes the double Special again.
11.30pm - a mackerel head trundled off to bring in a cat at 18lb, and quite a furious one too.
The next day was even hotter and all was quiet. I kept thinking I should have carried on to the Elderberries. Anyway I decided to give it one more night and banged in another couple of kilos of Specials.
At halfpast seven - I decided to put fresh baits on all three rods then cook myself some dinner.
I was down the bottom of the slope with the rods and I thought I heard voices, I looked across to the wagon park and all was clear, not a soul in sight. Then checked the gravel works and they had all gone. Never gave it another thought.
As I was sorting the rods out I could taste something strange on my tongue, then I felt my neck sticky and thought “I got to give the red wine a rest it’s starting to creep up on me”.
All rods sorted I climbed back up the slope to my bivvy, I just got to the top and was hit with a solid blast of spray. The farmer was spraying his field of peas! I thought it was Saddam and his biological warfare! Phew what I will do for a fish!
Totally stoned on crop spray and red wine I thought no way was I going to catch because of the contamination (bivvy too).
I needn’t have worried - at 01.40 I had a very fast run on the Special and jumped up to hit this very energetic cat. Now these cats love to make a dive for the weed beds so I’d got my hands full dealing with this acrobatic cat. It was then I felt my chest wet. What now I thought, the cat going ballistic and I had got a bloody horrendous nose bleed, and I mean really heavy duty stuff. So there I was, shirt and trousers covered in blood and the barmy fish wouldn’t come to the net. I looked like Frankenstein gone wrong!
Anyway the cat went 21.02 and as dawn broke the double Special was away again with a cat at 18.04.
Because of all the stuff I had either drank or breathed in I was flying all night. There was no way could I get to sleep ( I blamed it on the tin of hot beef curry I had for my supper). What a combination, Wine curry and cropspray!
At last around six in the morning I was just about to drop off to sleep when the double Special was away again... I was really choked when I pulled out of a big carp just as I was about to net it.
How big? Dunno but big enough to take six boilies on a double hair!.
Yeah I’m back again next week you betcha!

Details: IMPRESSIVE CATCH OF LARGE GRASS CARP ON ANGLING LINES ESSENTIAL FRUITS
John Tilbrook, one half of the recently successful 'Team Angling Lines' that placed second in the World Carp Championship at the beginning of June, has been in action again this past weekend.
Tilbrook fished a large still water in the north of his adopted state of Virginia USA, using 18mm Angling Lines Essential Fruit boilies over a liberal scattering of corn to take 17 grass carp, 14 of which were over 20lb up to 28lb 8oz.
"I arrived late Friday night and set about baiting with maize and Essential Fruit boilies to a sand bar between two island at 30 to 40 yards range " said Tilbrook. "It took 8 hours to get the first take but from that point on the fish came steadily until I had to pack up early Sunday morning". All fish fell to Essential Fruits fished in conjunction with method feeder in approx 12 feet of water.

Details: After several 'mid-night baiting's (Angling Lines Special Crab boilies mixed with pellet) it was with much relief that I found my chosen area vacant for the opening night of the season.
I had seen several fish visiting the area during my frequent visits and it was with great expectation that I presented my baited traps on the freshly cleaned gravel patches that had been getting larger by the day.
With the rigs in place I sat back on my bed and proceeded to start swatting the first of thousands of annoying blood thirsty 'mozzies'.
It wasn't long before the sweet sound of the 'Neville' burst through the irritating sound of the mosquito's. The first fish of the season was on. After a spirited fight I slipped the net under a common of 19lb. A nice start but things were soon to be soured.
I had dozed off shortly after this capture only to awake to three half stripped spools. I couldn't believe it. Takes on all three rods and the batteries in the receiver had died.
Now this pit has very few carp in it. To have received four takes in the first six hours of the season was unbelievable. The carp wanted the bait big time and my tackle had let me down. I couldn't help thinking just what could have been. At least I got all my rigs back intact, so there were no fish tied up.
10am and my disappointment was eased when a glorious old linear found my Angling Lines Special. This one went 25lb a glorious old warrior.
12 noon - 22lb common
1pm - 18lb mirror
4pm and again I was away. This was getting silly. I had an absolutely incredible battle with this fish. I managed to keep composure until eventually I was able to guide it into the net. Yessssssssssssss - come onnnnnnnn! The scales read 29lb 8oz. Just short of 30 but did I care? What do you think? I was chuffed to bits. Another of the pits warriors had fallen to the bait.
I did one more night in a state of euphoria. Unfortunately I lost another fish then the bream moved in.
6.30am on the second morning another of these little caught carp made an appearance. 28lb 8oz to round off my best opening night ever. Unfortunately I had to pack up for work after this fish.
Thank you Angling Lines - It is certainly one hell of a bait you have put together.
Cheers - Steve Bardens.

Details: Opening Weekend on the Mangrove
I arrived on the friday evening to find 5 fishing and more due to arrive. As there are only 8 swims that can really be fished, as one swim cuts another one off, the choice of swim was limited. My first choice would have been the stream and my second lightning tree, but both were taken. I opted for the field, Which is approximately half way along the North bank. The first night I got it completely wrong as I fished 3 rods in open water and the fish were in the pads. Duting the next day, 28th May, I moved 2 rods close in. One rod was fished in a tiny bay formed by pads and a large willow, I have caught from this spot in the past. Tactics were ALS fished in PVA bags. An ALS bottom bait was fished on a mini ring sliding on the shank of a Kamasan B745 hook. The buzzer gave a few beeps at 12:30 in the afternoon and in a short space of time I slipped the net under a 28lb 9 oz common. Catching fish after 9am in summer is very unusual. Some of the other anglers had gone for a meal and I was the only one fishing. The next night I fished the baits in the margins. Just as it started to go dark the fish started rolling at around 200yds out. These were moving fish where they ended up was anyones guess as everyone blanked that night.

Details: Did two nights on the Mangrove this weekend, conditions were not good, but I did manage to fluke a 22lb 1 oz mirror, details below:
I arrive on Friday evening to find only John of catch 22 fishing. This was a bit different from last rota when there were 7 on. John was in warblers and said that he had seen fish in warblers and infront of the stream.
The stream is my favourite swim so I didn't need an excuse. I placed one rod down the margin in 2.5 feet of water. This is the spot that I caught the largest new 30 from the year before last, which won me £100. Around 100 boilies, 6 handfuls of pellets and hemp were introduced. One rod was fished 60yds out toward lightning tree with a similar amount of bait and the other two were close together over triple the amount of bait fished 50yds out towards the bench.
After an hour I hooked a pike on the rod fished towards lightning tree, which bite me off at the net. That was the only action in the stream. The next day I had a look around in the boat (as you can't get at the water from the bank). I found 3 fish sunning themselves in lightning tree pads, one was a 30lb plus common. I moved there for the second night. One rod was fished down each margin with half the amount of freebies that I used the night before. Two rods were fish at 90yds close together with 100 freebies and about 10 handfuls of pellets and hemp. I caught a bream on each of the margin rods and a nice fat 22lb 1 oz mirror from one of the distance rods. As you can see ALS are attractive to anything that swims.
Cheers

Details: Just got back from a session on my club water, can't name it unfortunately as they are publicity shy. Big 75 acre low stocked gravel pit, approx 80 fish running to mid 40's. To cut a long story short, i was fishing to a far marginal reed bed at about 120 yards. Baited up using a bait boat with approx 20 golf ball size
> balls of the Angling Lines stik mix with 1/2kg ALS over the top. Fished a single 16mm ALS on a short Korda Hybrid hooklink and took two fish. A 14.4 common and this lovely 28.04 Mirror. I feel this is a particularily good catch as the water is very difficult due to low stock levels and its size...and the ten million Bream !!! These are my first two carp from this water this season (had about 50 Bream previously !!!)
Well pleased...and another fish falls to the Angling Lines Specials...the Bream like em too !!!
Best Regards
Steve

Details: Thought I'd give you a quick progress report on how your baits performed since we took delivery 27 May. Well what can I say except what an outstanding bait, and in the first week it has produced seven of the lakes known 20's when you consider we only have nine 20's at present you can understand my excitement. One of the 20's caught is the current lake record at a top weight of 25lb 6oz. In one afternoon session I bagged eleven doubles plus one of the twenties. One of the other chaps has banked his first twenty after over 40 years of chasing one. Haven't been on French Trip with bait yet but confidence is running high.
We have a no fishing area where fish naturally loiter around and we have fed and watched the fish taking the bait as it's falling through the water.
The baits working so well I may need to do a new order if that's ok. If you would like me to do an article for your website then no problem, Have attached a few photo's for your viewing sorry about mainline hats and clothing!! Myself and the lads were wondering whether it would be possible to keep our results underwraps for a little while as we feel there is better to come and don't really want someone else benefiting from our baiting up. Hope I am not asking too much as I appreciate that you need and want as much publicity regarding your product.
PHOTOS:- June 05 25lb 6oz - me with the lake record, 21lb May 05 - me with one of the twenties that was part of the eleven fish bagged, June 05 22lb 6oz - Fred Davies with his first 20lb fish after 40 years, 28-5-05 20lb 14oz - My son Adam (knobby) not even 24 hours after delivery of bait.

Details: TEAM ANGLING LINES’ SUCCESS IN THE WORLD CARP CHAMPIONSHIP
The team supported by Angling Lines, fishing the World Carp Championship on the St Lawrence river in New York State, USA finished second in the marathon 115 hour event. Team members Stewart McKenzie and John Tilbrook, both ex-pat Englishmen now living in Virginia USA, fished Angling Lines Specials over beds of corn to take 46 carp for a total weight of 842lb.
They fished peg 76 in a shallow bay off the main river and initially the fishing was slow with just two fish being caught the first night. ‘We fed steadily with corn and Angling Lines Specials and catches started to improve as the competition progressed’ said Tilbrook. ‘On Wednesday morning we weighed in 11 fish for over 220lb which pushed us into 4th place at which point we knew we had a shot at finishing in the top three’.
At 6am on Friday morning, with just 4 hours of the competition left, McKenzie’s swim came alive and he landed 4 good fish capped by a gorgeous 25lb 6oz common with just 20 minutes left before the final whistle. ‘We knew it was going to be close at the end and the stress as I was playing that final fish was unbelievable’ said McKenzie. It was a full 6 hours after the end of the competition before the duo were able to confirm that they had in fact taken second place behind Steve Briggs & Tim Paisley.
‘It’s unbelievable, we’re still trying to let the whole result sink in,’ said Stewart. ‘Thanks to Angling Lines for the support and the excellent bait’.

Details: Just back from my first trip of the year to France. Fished Watersmeet, a small intimate venue of around 2 acres. Had 19 fish in total - 38.00, 33.12 plus at least 10 more of 25lbs +. One koi of 12.09, all the rest 20.00+
All fish fell to Angling Lines Specials, several taken by stalking & casting to bubbling fish using float fished boilie. Can't recommend the venue highly enough - excellently equipped house that sleeps 6 right at the side of the lake which is reminiscent of Redmire. The lake is small & intimate & requires a bit of application to get results - a stalking anglers dream!

As I was unsure when I could go fishing, I decided to give them some Angling Lines Bait (crab flavour) as I wanted to see if it did what it says on the packet! They had a very successful week catching a total of fifty four fish. They had 5 x 40 lb, 14 x 30lb, and the rest 20lb plus.
These pictures show a selection of fish – 42, 41, 34, 31 and 37lb. They were very impressed and would use the bait again.

Details: The new rota at the Mangrove opened on the 26 th May at 8pm. My name was second out of the draw so I decided to fish the High Swim. Fishing over a bed of hemp and Betaine pellet, I was using an Angling Lines 14mm crab flavour boilie. At 3am I caught a 28lb 10oz. common. The fish was caught at 70 yards in open water using 30” of lead core with a blow back rig on a stiff amnesia hook length. A good start to the season.

Details: Just to let you know I had a superb week at Boux last week. Using your Angling line specials I accounted for a 55lb mirror, a superb 44lb common 8 x 30s to 36lb including a 32lb grass carp 12 x 20s to 29lb. Quite an amazing week!. All fell for a snowman or a rather large ball of your matching paste. Incidently the other 4 anglers in my party accounted for another 13 fish including a 42lb mirror and 4 x 30s to 34lb. Three of those 30s were caught on your bait wich mysteriously vanished from my cool bag while I was asleep !. I will be in touch shortly to order another 10 kilos to use on a pit I am fishing at home. This I will do with complete confidence in your bait.

Details: 1.30 am produced a huge Mirror weighing in at 58lb 04oz, caught on Angling Lines Specials. This fish is known on the Croix Blanche as ‘single scale’ ... as you can see from the photo it has a single scale on one side in the centre of its body.
I took the fish from a gravel patch in the weed at 50yrds on a bed of hemp and pellet with a single hook bait and a handful crushed boilies, with another handful of freebies.
I targeted this fish from the start of the week and on my last night it came out. I had this fish two years ago at 46lb 12oz and wanted to catch it again in the 50lb bracket... hopefully next time it will be in the 60lb bracket!

Details: Hi David, have just had the pics back from the first use of the ALS over the weekend of 23/24.04.05.
Fish were a heavily scaled mirror of 20.02 taken on an ALS 14mm bottom at 50 yard range to a gravel ridgeline as a single hookbait and a 24.02 common again on ALS 14mm bottom bait cast to a showing fish on a single hookbait. The pick up occurred some 6 hours after the show !!!.
These were the only fish out of the lake for the week.
Well happy for a first use of the bait and shows that ALS is sufficiently attractive as a single bait as it would be in a normal baiting environment.

Details: I started fishing this lake last year - it took 14 nights before I had my first carp. This year, I decided to try out the new Angling Lines Specials, and started to pre-bait over the last month. Using the throwing stick the 18mm baits were easily reaching 100 yards, with superb accuracy. For closer range I used a catapult and again found the consistency of the bait meant that I was able to put them all exactly where I wanted them.
On only my second overnight session of this year, I had my first fish - a superb 20lb 8oz common. A great result on a great bait - thanks Angling Lines - definitely a bait I can recommend!
