| Small but Pretty and Very Welcome
Date:
Dec 2008 Name: Carl Bullock Email: cjpb@sky.com Venue: A Very Northern Stillwater
Details: During a recent return trip to one of my old stomping grounds from over 16 years ago.(It is in fact where I first learnt to observe carp)
In just a quick four hour day session, I managed to winkle out this small but very pretty little mirror in all it's winter colours. A chod rigged 15mm (chopped down a bit) Fruity Triffle pop up was it's down fall.
The venue sees very few anglers during the summer let alone the winter so I got my Dad to trickle a kilo of bait in each week for 3 weeks until my arrival he's been spreading it all over the lake so they recognise it wherever they may be. And it obviously worked as the take came within 5 mins of a recast. There are rumours of a thirty (or two) and my next trip will be in the spring some time so we shall see what that has in store.

Details: Congratulations on an exellent winter bait. After catching an 18.5lb mirror 4 days ago I returned for another 24hr session.

The largest fish was a P.B. by 2lb 2oz. Merry Christmas to you all keep up the good work..........

| Rahja Scores in Siberian Weather!
Date:
Dec 2008 Name: Bruno Medou Email: Venue: Nievre Region
Details: Hey All,
This is a little feedback from a session a few weeks ago , during which and despite Siberian weather conditions, I had the great privilege to test the quality of Raja Spice Boilies in cold waters . If I had to choose one boilie among the range you offer in Quest Bait, it would no doubt be Rahja Spice and this in cold waters particularly.
I field tested them in the Nièvre region in France on a gravel pit and on very little baiting , and I managed to seduce not what I would call big fish but beautiful ones. They were full of energy and had never been caught before. Those fish granted me with a lot of pleasure. I was overwhelmed .
Yours sincerely,
Bruno Médou

| Fruity nails an original.
Date:
Nov 2008 Name: Darren Norman Email: darren@totalangling.co.uk Venue: Llynclas Lake, Oswestry
Details: Three very cold nights and four stunning days were rewarded with this 23lb 6oz original Mirror from my local syndicate lake. She fell to a four boilie stringer and a haired Fruity Trifle over a small scattering of Fruity and Pineapple bed.
The lease holders are currently scouring stocking program photos to identify the fish but are slowly coming round to the exciting fact that an "original" has finally been fooled.
I think we can safely say that "The Shrewsbury Questpretarians" have done it again.
Many thanks Shaun for once again taking the doubt out of my seasonal bait choice, oh by the way itwas my PB. Darren

| Saved by the Quest!
Date:
Nov 2008 Name: Paul Williams Email: pauljjc@hotmail.com Venue: maison de lac bleu france
Details: it was my first trip to france,i did my homework and gathered as much infomation as i could and the general feedback was that it wasn't going to be easy, partly due to angling pressure and also the fish being shy of boilie and big baits due to the amount of hemp being thrown in,spodding for hours and hours and using plastics is not for me and i'm sure its not much good for the fish either, anyway come the wednesday of the trip i had no fish only a lost fish when stalking, after breakfast thursday morning i decided to move on to a different lake for the last two nights, come dusk the odd fish started to show at about 80 yards in front of me i presented a single 10mm tigernut crunch boilie with a three bait stringer and at 10:45pm off it went and after a slow but powerful heart stopping fight i had it in the net and it was a lump i stood shaking with adrenilin until a mate came over to help, the fish was a mirror and weighed 47lb 4oz i couldn't believe it,it almost doubled my english pb, it made the trip worthwhile and an anglers dream come true,i have great faith in questbait, after all else had failed it came up trumps, the fishing was hard that week with 9 out 19 blanking,i've started to introduce quest into a difficult cheshire mere and i'm taking it to france next june, watch this space, cheers.

| Special Crab Barbel Success on the Lower Severn
Date:
Nov 2008 Name: Pat Gillett Email: pat.gillett@ge.com Venue: Lower Severn
Details: Hi Shaun,
After having a few trips without being able to locate any barbel on a small local river, I made my second trip of the season to the Lower Severn.
From what I can gather the Lower Severn has fished really slowly this season, so we had decided to wait for perfect conditions before we fished it again. I always feel more confident on this river when it is carrying plenty of extra coloured water. Anyway this was the case as the river was chocolate brown in colour with a rising water temperature of 8.2 deg. C. The level was perfect also, with it being about 18 inches from coming over the top of the banks.
The usual 8 hour session produced only 2 bites, but they were from barbel of 11lb 2oz and 13lb 6oz. Both of these fish fell to Quest baits frozen Special Crab boilies (coated in a Quest baits liquid special crab which I am doing some trials with) and wrapped in Special Crab paste.
Cheers,
Pat Gillett

| First try on Quest Baits a real success!
Date:
Nov 2008 Name: Bruno Medou Email: Venue: Old Oaks and an Undisclosed Water
Details: Let me first particularly thank Shaun for the baits that were delivered at Mehdi’s. I got them at Laroussi ponds where I spent two nights fishing on the Vieux Chêne lake ( old oak). I could particularly appreciate the quality of the Rajah spice ones. As soon as the water gets colder, I opt for spicy baits to which I owe my best fishing sessions. As temperatures were below zero during the night, we were freezing . I nevertheless managed to catch fish on very precise spots and casting very little bait with Partiblend and hemp seeds and tuna along with rajah spice sliced in two or 4. Along with my mates , fishing with two rods each we landed about ten fish among which the biggest common of the venue. A magnificent fish with an utmost and rare beauty. Then we moved to the far east of France on a 100 acre venue where it was windy, rainy and the freezing cold all through our session. Once more we found carps far from the lake bank in deep waters and on stone-covered lake beds. Somme very nice carps with a couple over 40 pounders were landed. A very demanding and exhausting week indeed due to the terrible weather conditions , but for my first try on Quest Bait , I must admit it has been a real success.

| Thanks for the advice Shaun!
Date:
Nov 2008 Name: Matt Email: beta.basher@yahoo.co.uk Venue: Burghfield Blue Pool
Details: Hi Shaun
Myself and the lads have just returned from a short and very cold session on Burghfield Blue Pool. Not a bad session considering the conditions and the fact that it was our first visit to the water. Armed with the Rahja Spice, we had steady action right from the off with a total of 7 fish landed between the four of us.
(14lb - 16lb - 17lb - 19lb - 20lb - 22lb & 23lb)
Thanks for the advice and a very attractive and instant bait.
Cheers,
Matt

| Liver B8
Date:
Nov 2008 Name: Paul Marshment Email: paulmarshment@hotmail.com Venue: Etang de Molyneux
Details: Hello Shaun
Just wanted to send a quick note to show how good the Liver B8 range of baits is to your website visitors. With alot of the new catch reports now on the site going to your over ranges, I didn't want this to go unnoticed.
I caught this 29lb 12oz Mirror at the Angling Lines venue, France in April 08, Ok not the biggest fish in the world but in the circumstances we had it was a very pleasing and rewarding catch.
We have been going to France for 10 years and experienced the worst weather we have ever had. The temperature never got over +2 all week, every night was frosty and I even woke up one day with a snow drift in the entrance of the bivvy!
As you can see the weather was dead against us, but knowing I was using a good bait, confidence remained remarkebly high.
The bait was presented at 100yds to an Island margin fished over the venues 7mm pellet. On the business end was a Korda size 8 wide gap with a 8inch soft IQ hooklink.
Many thanks for bringing this bait to the market for all of us to use.
Keep up the good work
Best regards
Paul Marshment

Details: Just got back from the Quest meeting at Croix Blanche in France I was testing out the new Surf ‘N’ Turf on a 12 hour session when I managed to put a carp on the bank within 2 hours as were was filming. Thanks Shaun, you have come up with another great bait which I'm sure will do incredibly well over the coming year by the looks of the captures which have been made on it already by so few who have actually had any to use.
Thanks Samantha Collins-Ratcliffe

| Joy Lake
Date:
Nov 2008 Name: Ron Key Email: carpfisher@tiscali.co.uk Venue: Joy Lake, Brittany
Details: I've just returned from the beautiful Joy Lake in the heart of the Breton countryside. I was fortunate enough to be able to use Quest Baits new development, the Surf 'N' Turf boilie which is due for release in March 2009. Baiting with PVA mesh bags of crumbed Surf 'N' Turf fished in conjunction with a combi-rig and 15mm bottom bait, I had my first fish a 33+ mirror less than two hours after arriving at the lake. In all I had 16 runs resulting in 13 fish on the bank including two thirties and four upper twenties, while only three other fish were caught that week. Needless to say that I'm a convert.
Thanks Shaun

| Highest quality shelf life baits I have used
Date:
Nov 2008 Name: Mark Erdwin Email: fragmasmiracle@gmail.com Venue: River Lot
Details: Myself and Robert (my father) had decided on making a trip to France to fish on the River Lot and a few weeks prior to the off I had seen the website and decided from some of the good correspondence that the Quest Bait shelfies looked good.
within only a few days the bait was delivered and safely packed, and upon checking the bait out I was taken aback by its quality and high level of quality food substance, not to mention the free popups and alternate bait, kudos for including that as well as the nicely designed hints booklet.
We took with us Special Crab,Fruity Trifle and Smoky Fish all in 15mm.
Well what can I say..10/10 we had a very rewarding time on the Lot and all the flavours we took we caught on.
mirrors of 14,27,37 and commons of 14,20,23.8,26
(no room for one of the pictures)
Would I recommend these baits to other people whom
might be in need of a shelf life that will catch
you fish and that has high quality nutritional values? To right I would and without a moments hesitation or a second thought. Will I be ordering again? Yes!
Thank you very much for making a memorable fishing
trip all that much better.
Kind Regards and Tight Lines

| What a week on the Pineapple crush
Date:
Oct 2008 Name: Justin Webb Email: laurawebb1@btinternet.com Venue: Etang de Royal
Details: Myself and my friend Richard ordered 30kg of pineapple crush to take to etang de royal mainly to try and combat the poisson chats. What a bait it is .All the way to France thats all we could smell in the car leaving us both thinking that it could do the bussiness. And we were not wrong.I had 11 fish Best 44lb12 two tone mirror and Richard had 13 fish best 43lb7 mirror. We both broke our personal best also. What more could you ask of a bait. Most of the fish came on double 15mm bottom baits baited with 2 kg of mixed 15mm and 20mm.The only thing we both wished we had done is taken more because by Thursday night we were both running out fast.As far as the poisson chat go I had no bother off them all week and Richard only got chatted on the last night, we put this down to the fact that we were only using small amounts of bait. Just like to say a big thanks to Shaun for his advice but most of all for supplying us with a top quality bait.We will both be back for more in the future.
Many Thanks

| Liver B8 - A Little Bit Special!
Date:
Oct 2008 Name: David Russel Email: Venue: Mayflower Pool
Details: Hi. Just to let you know had a very good result with Liver B8 at Mayflower pool in France with 3 doubles, 10 twenties, 15 thrities & 1 forty. My mate also had 3 doubles, 12 twenties, 5 thirties, & 1 forty. Although I would not classify this water as difficult, we did beat the previous weeks total by 17 more fish & these were two guys who apparently really know this water well as regulars. I was very impressed with the hard hookers, but most of the fish fell to a single 10 mm bottom bait glugged for over 24 hours. Previously I have used Premier Matrix boilies for 4 years now, & have had total confidence in this bait. However, I fancied a change & may just have stumbled across another bait, which is a bit special. Thanks.

| Martin Ford - Confidence with our Shelf Life Boilies
Date:
Oct 2008 Name: Martin Ford Email: Venue: Les Quis - Bay Lake
Details: Hi Shaun
Many thanks for the 6kg of bait for my Les Quis trip. It was quite refreshing to sit there in the knowledge that I had a good bait with me, as I’m not usually a user of shelf-life baits, particularly when it comes to big carp fishing. I had been asked out to give the Bay Lake a go (a water stocked many years back with hundreds of small carp). I fished here five years ago for a day only while visiting the main complex. I have to say the carp have come on leaps and bounds and I ended up with three thirties to 35lb, five 20s and a host of large upper doubles… all on either the B8 or feeding B8 and using double Pineapple Crush, or the freebie Fruity Trifles I found in the Liver B8 bag.
It’s definitely a bait I would take out there again and felt that if I’d taken more, I would have caught more and had to plan out what and when I put bait in to make it last the trip. For the record I fished three nights and three days, all the takes came in daylight apart from one of the twenties that came at 3am on the lat morning.
Once again many thanks.

Date:
Oct 2008 Name: Alan Hydon Email: alan.hydon@googlemail.com Venue: Upton Lane, Stoke Golding
Details: Saturday 18th October, a cold breeze blowing right to left past my peg, water high and coloured,no fish showing, the usual fishermans dilema, how far out and what baits. Started with a bed of mixed trout pellets and then dead maggots over the top,im fishing with a mid 50's MkIV cane rod and a Mitchell 300A reel on 8lb line, Special Crab freezer bolie and sit down to float fish in front as carp rod sits in the margins 25yds to my right, 1 hour later and a screamer on the 300A followed by a 12min fight and its a 13lb 9oz mirror carp on the bank, that was the best of a 10 fish bag when most on our lake were going home due to the cold, when only myself is left, only my bait will be picked up by hungry fish, stick at it, its often worth getting cold for.

heres a selection of photos from our trip to France earlier this year using your terrific Special Crab bait

I used the Rahja Spice Maximum Action Pellets mixed with some carp and hallibut pellets in a pva bag to give a varied break down rate. The hookbait consisted of plastic corn and a chopped down 15mm Rahja Spice bottom bait to critically balance it.

| New Pb 47lb 2oz Mirror....
Date:
Sep 2008 Name: Paul Hodgins Email: podgyhodgy81@hotmail.co.uk Venue: Remy
Details: Hi Shaun,
Just wanted to say thanks for the advice on the bait selection for Remy.
10 of us went to Remy last week and had 45 fish between on a selection of your baits.
Myself and Shane were fishing Peg 5 with Raja Spice and Special Crab and we had 28 fish for the week off these baits.
To top the week off I managed to winkle out a new pb and the biggest thing I have seen come out of a lake so far in my fishing days, a 47lb 2oz Mirror, this was caught using Special Crab 15mm bottom and pop up, with a handful of Maize and Particle Mix.
Also the one and only girl to come on our trip Kelly Jones managed a new PB 26lb 14oz Mirror, which made the trip well worthwhile.
Thanks again for the Advice and again top bait that produces the goods.
Many Thanks
Paul Hodgins

I didnt catch on the special crab but landed a 47pounder a 48 pounder on rahja spice and broke the lake record with a 59pound 8 ounce mirror on a combination of a 10mm and 20mm rahja spice so THANKS ALOT for the advice ! found the lake quite a hard water to fish but with a bit of advice from mick the balif and a bit of hard work it definatley produced the goods! I will be sending the photos into a magazine at some point (if tiscali ever sort out my internet connection in my flat as all photos are on my laptop instead of these prehistoric library conmputers) not a bad result considering my previous pb was 25 pound 4 ounce thanks once again and if you`d like a copy of any pics for advertisment just let me know again thanks alot! i dont get to fish as often as i wish i could due to uni and work commitments so i have to make the most of the sessions i do have and lets just say my bait choice has now been seriously influenced many thanks an elated carp angler Ally

| P.B. Almost Doubled!
Date:
Sep 2008 Name: Chris Garfoot Email: Venue: Vincon
Details: Hi All,
Just to let you know that the channel tunnel was kind to us for our return and we are back on home soil.
Vincon; We had the place to ourselves and enjoyed the fishing tremendously. The use of the lodge as well as the cottage was great and meant that all the gear was stored overnight in the lodge and we had somewhere to lunch.
A big thank you to Steve and Shaun for all their guidance and tips; I can now say I have taken my PB from 14 to 27.5 lbs..yippee!!!! Thanks for having confidence in me Steve.
The catch:-
5 - Commons up to 27.5 lb (photo attached)
4 - Mirrors up to 24.5 lb (photo attached)
6 - Tench up to 6.5 lb.
The Methods:-
27.5 Common - Float fishing with a quarter of a Rahja Spice boilie on a plain no.8 hook.
Other success included catches on a helicopter rig and a pva bag rig, some using Liver B8 boilies and some using Rahja Spice but both using matching maximum action pellets in the bags which worked wonders. Particles were also cooked every night and used, but were not as crutial as the max action pellets. Boilies were very often doubled up with an artificial sweet corn tip.
The biggest problem - first fish on the first day broke the landing net. Even though it was patched up it was never the same but it just got us through the week. New one required I think!!
Artu and Uno made there daily appearances to find out what was going on and they were good company.
The lake would be better if you could get to the far bank in some way as there were two or three occassions when fish disappeared over to that side because of the weather conditions. Apart from that the sport from the lodge, together with the left hand bank up to the dam wall was good.
I wonder what next year will bring?
Once again thank you from a very chuffed person.
Kind regards and tight lines.
Chris Garfoot

| Summer Up-Date on Quest!
Date:
Sep 2008 Name: Paul Fletcher Email: Venue: Assorted
Details: Hi Shaun
Hope you are all well at Quest Baits HQ?
I thought I'd drop you a quick line on how my fishing has gone this summer. I must admit that its been a tough one - working in the banking industry in these 'challenging times' has meant that I've spent too much time 'in the bank' rather than 'on the bank', if you know what I mean!
This said I've managed a few trips 'here and there' and yet again the bait hasn't let me down!
Early Summer to me always means a few trips surface fishing for carp. I'm not worried about what size they are, its the 'thrill of the chase' I enjoy - seeing them slurp down those flavoured biscuits - I have found that they are suckers for biscuits flavoured with Fruity Trifle. A few nice warm evening brought me between 8 - 20 fish to low doubles, great fun on my 1.75tc barbel rod!
The chub and barbel fishing was a challenge early doors mainly due to the low, clear conditions. The fish proved elusive and it wasn't until the rains came that I really hit into the fish. Still nothing massive but I have landed some lovely fish recently on the Special Crab boilies fished over the 'awesome' Garlic Feast Particles. My trips are short, after work sessions and I have caught well when the river has been well up and with some colour. One recent session was special as I managed to pre-bait with the garlic feast for a couple of nights. This proved successful as I landed no fewer that 8 barbel in 4 hours! They just couldn't get enough of the Special Crab / Garlic Feast combi - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I've also been after the tench at my local estate lake again this year. Some great success fishing both Special Crab and Fruity Trifle baits over the consistent Quest Method Mix. William (my son) and I have landed tench to over 8lbs this year and just last weekend we had a great morning session fishing with Fruity Trifle hookbaits that have been soaking in the matching Bait Glug for over 12 months!!
Autumn is now upon us and this is when I start to get really excited about my fishing. There is a chill in the air and the leaves are turning - time for the barbel and chub to really start feeding! I will be doing my fair share of 'after work' sessions chasing the bigger fish so I'll keep you posted!
I've enclosed a few photo's from this summer - 3 of which have been taken by William - who is only 6 years old! He's proving a great addition to my fishing trips and available for hire for only a small fee!!
Thanks as ever for the top bait - my fishing time may be limited but I know that I can just grab a bag of Quest Baits and head off fishing - brimming with confidence!
Catch you soon mate.
Cheers
Fletch

Details: Thought it about time I entered another catch report. Some of you may be aware I have been working on a new bait for some time and after much tweaking around with the ingredients I feel it is about as good as I can make it.
I have spent a lot of time with this bait feeding the fish in various waters and monitoring their response.
This week-end I took it along to the large Cambridgeshire water I have been fishing and was rewarded with four carp weighing 16.12, 20.12, 21.02 and 31.04

| I'm back in love with fishing!
Date:
Sep 2008 Name: Paul Henderson Email: Venue: Beaver Farm
Details: Hi Shaun,
Just a quick email of thanks. I’ve recently been fishing a day ticket water where the fish are supposed to love a fruity boilie. In the quest to use a bait which probably hadn’t already been heavily used on the water I ordered 4kg of your Fruity trifle through your web site.
Last Friday I decided to do a quick overnighter but was unable to get to the water for which the bait was intended before they closed their gates for the night so instead headed to Beaver Farm near East Grinstead.
I had not bought the bait with the intention of using it on this complex but felt I may as well give it a go on one of my rods. So I used one of the free pop ups you provide as a hook bait and a stringer of about 10 of the shelf life boilies.
At 3am I caught my first domestic cat (only 10lb – but I was relieved to catch anything after a string of blank sessions). And then at 9.30am Saturday morning I caught the attached carp that went just over 28lb and beat my previous PB by 5lb. I was made up and still am.
Can’t wait to try it on the water for which it was actually intended.
Just wanted to say a quick thanks. I’ve been flogging away with Mainline’s Cell boilies and a couple of the Dynamite baits offerings for some time and your bait has done the world of good for my confidence and I'm back in love with fishing again.
Cheers,
Paul

Details: Hi Shaun,
Just returned from Village de Pêche in north of France near the city of Reims.
When we arrived we heard things had bin slow for the anglers in our swims the week before in peg 14 and 15.
Thing started of very slow for me and my friend Robert with just the odd small fish up to mid 20’s.
The bream and sturgeon where caught frequently wich made us change hookbaits from 15mm to 20 mm’s.
This seemed to work, the bream and sturgeons where no longer caught.
Wednesday things finally started to change, the weather conditions got better from dry and sunny to rain and windy. It seemed to get the bigger fish on the feed.
Wednesday around 15.00 in the afternoon was the start for some bigger fish with me landing the biggest mirror of the week at 47 lb. At the same moment my fishing buddy was playing a 35 lb.
Some more fish visited the banks in the following days. Friday brought me a brace of 39’s..within an hour of each other., and robert his new p.b of 46 lb.
On the final night my friend also banked a 43 lb common.I total we had 33 fish between us..mainly 20’s..6 30’s..and 3 40’s. All fish where caught on questbaits ..Fruity Trifle and Smokey Fish.

| Never Give Up Hope
Date:
Aug 2008 Name: Conor Davey Email: sallydavey1@btconnect.co.uk Venue: Rougham Syndicate Lake
Details: Just doing an overnight session on my local syndicate using the Rahja Spice and during the day i had nothing (not a bleep) i tried everything i could think of. My mate told me to break up some of the rahja spice and use it has a stick mix with the pva mesh, getting ready for what was going to be the best session i have ever done. Roughly about midnight i had a 10lb 8oz common on the rahja and the shout went out "Come On!!" waking some of the anglers on site. It was my first fish on the rahja so my confidence was sky high, still using the stick mix and double 15mm rahja, early morning i lost one but it weren't that big. About an hour 30mins later again the shout was "Come On" but a little bigger this time of 11lb 2oz common. Hour after that i was playing what felt a decent fish it kept low hugging the bottom and has it surfaced it looked like my p.b a couple of months ago. I couldn't believe how much line it was taking, when it looked as though it was ready, again it would keep taking line till it was finally beat and it slipped over the cord into the net most of us thought it was my p.b or a 20 and scales tipped round to 19lb 8oz (mirror)2oz shy of but equalling my p.b i did feel a bit gutted but still very happy. I have only been fishing for a couple of years and i've got 2x 19's under my belt and i'm only 14! Thanks Shaun for a quality bait
