More for Less

I have just come back from an interesting week on a lake in the Champagne Region of France, with my brother David. The weather forecast for the week and the catch reports I had been reading suggested that the week wouldn't be an easy one and that a large catch of carp was probably going to be out of the question as there had only been 3 carp caught from the whole lake on the week prior to our visit. But, careful baiting was to work a treat.

Abolishing the river close season for coarse angling

I wonder if this will be the last coarse angling river close season we ever have?

I’m sat here pondering things and really don’t know how I feel about it. I have very mixed emotions on the subject and up until a couple of years ago I would have fought hard to retain the three month break in the season. Perhaps it was the traditionalist in me, perhaps just a conscience that our fish should be rested.

Back through my diaries and an end of season memory and chance encounter.

As we are on the last day of the river season, possibly the last ever if a vote to abolish it goes through. I'm stuck at my desk with my mind naturally rolling over past season ends. I have been so fortunate to have had some pretty spectacular last evening's etc, but this tale is something very different, a chance encounter that you couldn't have possibly dreamt up.

I love the synchronicity of nature and by watching nature doing its thing I am often given clues as to when I really need to be out.

I received a message last night asking why Magnum White has been such a great cold water catcher. So here is my answer...

What bait are you using this year Shaun?

What bait are you using this year Shaun?

This is a question I am often asked on the telephone, so I thought it about time I wrote my answers down.
